The Bermuda Triangle is an area in the Atlantic Ocean bounded by imaginary lines in the shape of a triangle that run from Bermuda down to Puerto Rico, over to southeast Florida, and back up to Bermuda. Over the past century, hundreds of ships and aircraft have either disappeared or crashed in this region. Scientists believe there are many reasons why planes and ships disappear, including strong and unpredictable tropical storms, hurricanes, compass or equipment failure, lack of radios on board, and the structural weakness of the aircraft. Other people believe that ships disappear because of other less scientific reasons such as unidentified flying objects (UFOs) that may have interfered.
