A quality of life assessment designed to measure the effect of a chronic health condition on the everyday living experience of the person who has it. Although not specific for Parkinson’s disease, the SIP covers a broad range of topics that address quality of life concerns relevant to people with Parkinson’s. A clinician may use the SIP to monitor the extent to which anti-parkinson’s medications allow a person to experience what he or she perceives as a “normal” life. Researchers and some disability insurance companies also use the SIP, which is a proprietary assessment tool.
